Fast and Furious-Singapore Drift Day!

Went to see my first Drift race last Sunday

Made my way to Jurong to pick up Sunshine at 830am

Heh being the 2 kiasu pple that we were, we were determined to get ourselves a proper parking lot at the Changi Exhibition Centre. True to form, we skipped all breakfast plans and headed straight for the event site, by the time we arrived at Changi, it was just 930am. The carpark was empty. there was no food . And nobody was allowed in till 1030am :P blyeeahhhh!

There was nothing left to do except stand around and stare across the river and smoke some cigarettes while we waited for 1030am. While we waited, we were teased constantly by the roaring of the engines of drift cars that were doing their practice rounds on the tracks! damn!

Sunshine staring longingly at the Race venue...so close yet so far away! Is it 1030am yet!? Finally the "gates" were open and sunshine and i made a bee line for the Ford GT! Sunshine :" Eh this car looks damn familiar! "

Guppy :" Ya you got the red one at your office! "

Sunshine : " Eh !this grey one was also from my office, we bought it ! how'd it get here? lemme make some calls "True enough. Yep Ford GT baby was on loan for display at this show...and one of sunshines colleagues got to drive this baby to Changi! how cool...I think im in the wrong job man Finally we settled into our seats at the grandstand...and sunshine wasted no time in whipping out her pro cam! ofcourse i took pic of sunshine taking pics hee hee There wasnt much of a crowd in the morning, the crowds mostly turned up for the final race at 3pm...but the audience was still a healthy size . I was surprised that there was such a big following for drift racin in Singapore
Apparently the race was also covered by ESPN sports live. We settled into our seats in time to catch an accident - it was practice rounds, and one of the cars rammed into the concrete walls during a drift! ..COOLNESS

The roar of the engines, the smell of burning rubber...it was thrill after thrill after thrill. when done right , the excitement gave me goosepimples! i was psyched!

dont think my pics do any justice to the excitement of the event .

Qualifying rounds. 38 cars ..will be whittled to top 16 who will compete for top 8 spots!

After the qualifying rounds where the top 16 emerged, there was a break. so Sunshine and I went to perve at all the hot drift cars on display! A staple at any car race, ofcourse one will find RACE QUEENS ...alas the race queens at this event all cannot make it. i just took this pic coz they were all in pink hahaha The cutest race queen of them all ---> Drift car slut Guppy!I want stickers for my car too...hmpf!Sunshine doin her thing again! Hahh but seriously the appeal of the wrecked cars and all the damages they have on the bodies. Is one of the biggest draw for the drift race --> NO GUTS NO GLORY!

Entry has to be above 80km per hour, and then swerve your ride so the rear end of the car barely scrapes the side of the concrete walls at your turns. ...Skill, precision, luck...and BIG BIG BUCKETS OF GUTS! It was not possible to lose sunshine in the crowds as she can always be found taking pics of the smashed carsThis was Jane Cheakas ride, Jane is the ONLY female drift racer in this race. my hero!If there is another thing better than a man with a race car...is a man with a cool bike!Another hero of mine : Maddie Griffith - the world's number 1 stunt bike rider!Race car drivers signing autographs flanked by race queens in blue and green wigs?!?Cam whoring with the NISSAN GTR...Wants the GTR! Maddie doin his thang....such a turn on!At 3pm it was time for the 2nd round , where the top 16 battle it out for the only 8 spots in the finals The top 16 meet with the fans! The 2nd race begins, one leads...one chases...then swop positions, leader becomes chaser and vice versa! The top 8 emerged

but before they could battle it out, IT STARTED TO POUR~The race had to stop , the crowds waited for the rain to stopLuckily we were entertained by a percussion band from the Goodyear booth!I was suitably distracted by this tanned delicious lookin boy! check out his arms! hahahaha

The rain finally stopped, the roads were still wet BUT THE RACE MUST STILL GO ON! Guppies got even more high from the thrill of a wet drift race! woot!Whats better than burning rubber, smoke and heart pounding engine roars?Heart pounding engine roars tearing down the wet roads splashing water EVERYWHERE! WHEEEE!!!!!The final show down! car 12 whitey vs blue guy ... it was the battle to the finish! The entry..The winning manouvre! CUT YOU IN A DRIFT!Eat my dust!
A champion rides into the sunset.

I love fast cars .....

A sign of the times

Not sure whether to laugh or to cry

But i was certainly amused when i saw this Singa Lion mascot statue outside a local foodcourt sporting...a face mask .

Its a sign of the times I guess.

The economy is still not picking up . More and more job layoffs are occuring across the world and now, it looks like this H1N1 Virus is looking like its here to stay.

We are now into the 2nd half of 2009 But I dont see things getting any easier for the next half of the year. Im mentally exhausted . Emotionally Numb.

I need a change , a break , a distraction.

It was a Hoot!

It was a Hoot Part 1 :
Hooters at Clarke Quay
We were supposed to meet up with a bunch of ex colleagues for Crab at Melban this evening, but i think there was some last minute change of plans and most of the others could not make it.

So we decided, no point eating crabs with just the 3 of us, and since i had cravings for chicken wings , Celeste volunteered to bring this guppy and joyes to Hooters - where she claims serve the BEST fried chicken wings in town. Hah as the name would suggest - this place is supposedly infamous for having great looking buxom babes serve you good food while you take in an eyeful of their nice booty and cleavage.

Naturally this little guppy has never been to such a place before so i was very excited and couldnt stop hooting all evening. I even contemplated buying some watermelons, rock melons, apples etc so i can do some real life comparisons when i do meet up with these waitresses.

We arrived and got a seat inside the restaurant . It was still a little early their "show" only begins at 10pm. but all the girls were already lined up outside the restaurant for their daily briefing.
Guppies camwhoring with hooter girls! woohoo!

I must say i was a tad bit dissappointed. The girls were sweet and friendly alright but, where are the humongous JUGs...where are the infamouse gigantic boobies?~! Dressed in their tight singlets, yes with gravity defying boobies obviously propped up with push up bras... I didnt think they had much to offer on the boob front. Instead of a tit gawking place, It was more like an arse admiring place..with everyone dressed in tight orange barely there shorts.

Infact, i think the food at Hooters was really more exciting and more of a turn on than the girls HAHAHAHAH

and my dinner kaki colleagues think so too !

check out our sumptuos delicious dinner!

Raw oysters on the rocks
Signature Fried Chicken Wings !
Baked Potatoe Jackets
Prawn pasta Olglio olio
Fish and errm Curly fry chips!

THANK YOU for an eye opening night out hahahah and for entertaining my insane urge to camwhore with the hootergirls like those other guys hahahahah

It was a Hoot Part 2 :
Guppies ate a big meal at a real HAWKER FOOD CENTRE in FULL MAKE UP!

Lunchbreak again . and this time Kulcha had craving for wanton mee. one quick google later, I found this blog that described what look like damn delicious authentic looking wanton mee!

Horror of horrors this stall was located right in the middle of a true blue hot humid..HAWKER CENTRE :P x 100000. smack in the middle of tanjong pagar very close to where we worked.

I love wanton mee , and the pics on that other blog made the me even hungrier. so contrary to my usual practice , I actually armed myself with a big box of tissues and made my way to this hawker centre to eat this wanton mee! Will i survive a meal at a place with NO CLIMATE CONTROL?! *horror*

Im glad to report. lucky for this guppy, today wasnt that humid and hot so hawker centre climate was still bearable :D ..

Check out the wanton mee :

right colour, right texture, right taste. Only bummer was the charsiew was dry!

There was an extra order of prawn dumplings too :D hehehehhe
BEST OF THE BEST was this ICE KACHANG ... coated with peanuts?!!!?
A welcome delicious cooling sweet dessert to round off my yummy lunch!
Thank you for the treat wor!
But will i do the hawker centre again? heheheheheheh I guess you already know the answer my happie gupsters!

Things that make you go hmmmmm

I thought it was going to be just another work typical work day .

But it was not.
It started happily enough. Its not everyday that you get smiling webcam chat invite early morning. Yeah a big bright smile does add that extra energy booster to help start another day of battling in the office.

Encouraged by webcam cheer, i still had time before my first customer meeting( which will stretch out through lunch), so i went to grab a quick brunch with the team.

But when i got back to the office from brunch everything just went downhill at startling speeds with issues that stretch out across so many geographical locations it was just plain - nuts.

1. I found out that an over eager someone had been making enquiries about me. Which made me really uncomfortable. Was it pure boredom, curiousity or just plain membership agenda driven ? I simply have no patience with grown men who do not have the balls to be direct. You want to know something ? ask me directly. Do not discuss me with another. Most importantly such juvenile "girlie" behaviour is just plain hilarious and mind boggling!

2.One loooong drawn prep meeting later, I was advised we would have to do another pow wow at 745am tomorrow at the client's premises . so we can"synch up" with the other australian stakeholders in this project . sigh.

3. Taiwan customer wants a party delivered in their name but could not decide who from their camp will come to the party. pain.

4. Its month closing and boss is chasing for revenue and forecasts numbers which as usual my numbers do not tally with finance's numbers ... 1+1 not = 2! again! Naturally we are waaay behind in our numbers . also known as no cannot hit target . Pain

5. The VP that sits in the office close to me got her marching orders this afternoon. After years of service , her post was made redundant. and her division and resources now reports to my boss - who as of today effectivey becomes the Master of the Universe . Which means by default im getting dotted lines coming straight up my ass like the speed of light :P . so many changes . am I supposed to be worried that people are dropping like flies around me ? Hmmmm

6. Just as I thought this mad day was going to finally end. I got one last msn msg from someone i met less than 3 days ago . It was an innocent enough query - "when are you getting off work? can i get a lift to the Singapore Flyer ?" , "Im going there for dinner"

I think i did not handle it well at all and probably blew any opportunity to continue this acquaintence. It just pushed all the wrong buttons and reminded me so much of how an earlier friendship was abused. Yup really didnt handle it too well. Too blunt. But really, it all seems a little absurd that one could call me up to ask for a lift to his next dinner appointment ...that did not involve me. How flattering.

My frank and blunt feedback also earned me a density comparison to his vietnamese staff. Surprised.

Aww its ok Ashton...you look better than a taxi. I love you for you. no matter what everybody else thinks!

I think its time to give Ashton a new paint job , people are starting to mistake him for a free taxi ! Hmmmmmm

Not the same

Lunchbreak.

Same table we once sat in.
Same place that served cheap but convenient food.
With someone who also works 1 street away from me ( what are the odds)
Came with a friendly smile.
Came with interesting conversation.
Came with absolutely no agenda.
It was certainly enjoyable.

But it wasnt the same.
As i polished off my sandwich it dawned on me. It will never be the same ever again.

Badminton Champion Guppy ?

Guess what i did this Sunday evening ?

Hee I went to play badminton at Delta Sports Complex . Those who know me must be amazed I even moved my lazy bum ... and yes DELTA...where is Delta!?!?

Actually there were 3 very good reasons :
1. I was curious about the person behind the persona
2. I really thought badminton was easy...i was kinda good at it as a kid, so how hard can it be to pick it up again?
3. I threw out a challenge..loser has to massage the hairy legs and smelly feet of the winner...hah ofcourse I had to turn up :D

I couldve sworn we were supposed to meet up at 7pm. and so when Kulcha rang me at 430ish to remind me about the 5pm game... It was a mad dash to Delta stadium near Alexandra road.

I arrived slightly pass 5pm . As i strolled into the badminton hall, I was amazed that people recognised me . I must be very obvious all pink , round and lost lookin * hahahaha*

The verdict :

I definitely aint no champion badminton player ...HAHAHAH not even a good one. :P -- gosh i was already prepared to be defeated thoroughly. but it was all in good fun. just hope i didnt mess up too many expert players games :P

I am also absolutely amazed. (Perhaps I should not be) The bunch of people Kulcha plays with were all strangers who simply met online. through a badminton forum and decided one fine day to meet up at Delta stadium to play! Now they play and talk as if they are old friends. not a bad deal after all.

After the game, we all went to Seng Poh ...i think its called Seng Poh street for a sumptuous Steamboat buffet dinner. But i was just too exhausted to eat , even though i really felt i wanted to eat something, the appetite just wasnt there.

A nice warm dinner with a big group of new friends after an exhausting evening of badminton. Im glad i took up your badminton invite.

What an interesting evening indeed. It was a pleasure meeting you - hah and technically since we didnt play a set formally, nobody lost to nobody so there is no forfeit for losing :P muahahhhaha *runs away!*
