Trace msged me this mornin that she found the perfect kitty to keep aidan company ,presenting Toffee...cute lil female kitten half aidan's size...awww isnt she adorable ?

So after i collected toffee from Tracie...i wasted no time to quickly bring her home to introduce her to Aidan! Toffee loves to sleep...mmm a little too much mabbe.

But when Toffee got to the house, she headed straight for Aidan's bed and plonked herself into it. then went to sleep.. Aidan could only stare on helplessly ...

More Porkchops Please

Yes I am Happie once again!


Its finally here, the moment i had been waiting for all these months! - Porkchop is finally back in Singapore.

I spent the entire day stocking up the refridgerator with foods that he likes , fresh milk, chocolate, cheeses, I replendished the pantry cupboards with rabbit food - muesli, cereals, oats, and even bought whole meal bread.

On hindsight- i have never had so much "healthy" food in my kitchen for so long. not sure i can get used to it again

I even made thai pomelo salad, marinated some chicken chops. and made tiramisu, ( incase he gets hungry and wants some food) before i headed out to the airport.

Im pleased to report , my precious porkchop had been safely collected, brought home, but alas he was so exhausted from the plane trip back that he had little appetite, too tired to go anywhere, we just cuddled, he surfed the net, watched abit of teevee before he plonked into bed and slept,

Hmmm guess I'll have to devour this delicious dish ...tomorrow!

The change in responsibilities at work have seen me work both in the day...as well as late into the night as i made my presence and voice heard all the way in the US of A . I needed a break. not sure how long I can last like this, its only been a week but im already...Blyeahhh

On a happie note, tonights crab night! But besides the delicious yummy chilli crab, and getting the opportunity to catch up with new-born internet shopaholic yummy , it was also another special occasion : I got to meet fellow blogger "Bunny" from "Bunny goes Zen" in person!

Bunny and Yummy knew each other for years, But I'd only been following Bunny's adventures through her blog since i started blogging. and when i finally met Bunny in the flesh, it was like as if Ive known her for quite some time :D * amazing*

More Lo Heis!

Late night conference calls suck.
Ive been home for the past few nights - on long winded time consuming conference calls - for work. The key take aways I have from these calls are :

1. why is it WE have to accomodate Your timezone? 9pm conference call that stretches till 1130pm? really is that a nice thing to do?

2. why do chinese people, who are obviously smart, experienced, astute business people..FEEL THE NEED TO SLANG. adopt an accent when speaking with angmos?!

3. Its really tiring and a pain to have conf calls that involve one particular person that LOVES the sound of his voice...

4. i need to remind myself why im working...BILLS BILLS BILLS..

check out my dinner for one shlop... everything thrown in a pot chicken stew and rice for one...boohoo...two nights in a row...somebody pllease take me out for dinner! Only made me miss the feasts with friends, CNY dinner at home cooked by mommy, dinner at restaurants with friends...or just MCR dinners at moomoos...o woe is me *wails*

On a yummy longing note, spent sunday evening at moos for a nice Yusheng dinner! TracE, Anth , auntie Irene and moo, everyone brought some food along.. check out the spread! NOW compare that to the shlop id been scoffing the past few nights! *grumble grumble*

Anth did the Yusheng auspicious couplet recitals...( also known as uttering auspcious lucky wishes aloud) This is the yummy abalone yusheng from 5 star we also had fresh cockles...there was some debate over Hep B / Hep C risks...but well who cares! u only live once! *yummy*

Guitarman Anth

After dinner, Anth dug up an old unused classic style guitar from moo's lift lobby..apparently it belonged to auntie irene, who had the itch YEEAARRSS ago to learn to play the guitar..someone gave it to auntie irene but i guess the itch fizzled out and the guitar was just left untouched for years..

It was old, the strings were broken, But it was amazing. Anth could still strum a few cool tunes, he plucked my fav "tears in heaven" made me wanna learn to play the guitar too...sigh..

neeways auntie irene gave the guitar to Anth ..and as i was typing this blog, anth happily live messengered me to tell me : "remember to mention the guitar auntie gave me... update everyone by saying I restring it with silver plated strings! "

What is Charity?

Yep another eventful weekend.

Had a few colleagues drop by my flat on saturday for a CNY lunch. Meowmi "reverse engineered" a damn delicious stewed chicken dish we had in town, and i must say it was a BIG success. delicious is an understatement. I tried my hand and made fried meesiam for the first time ( albiet with instant meesiam mix) hah but it was still yum. Besides Meowmi's heavenly stewed chicken, my meesiam, we also had stirfried veggies, garlic prawns, dimsum, pows, bak kwa ) There was so much food and as usual, by the time we settled down to eat , I FORGOT TO TAKE PHOTOS ...again! aargh!

Everyone left around 4, and as i was washing up after the raunchie lunchie , buoy msged to go get ice-cream . :D he wanted to hit a few rounds on the driving range nearby but when we got to the orchid range, it was closed! @#$@!! so we ended up scoffing desserts and snacks at Tong Shui along Thomson Road instead.

As usual, i was urging anyone and everyone i meet to go make a cash donation to charity to start off the year with good karma. I was sooo Egging Buoy on to go to an AXS machine and transfer some money to a charity.

Guppy : " OK after makan we go find an AXS machine , you donate some marnies to community chest or childrens cancer foundation or something."

Buoy : " Why?"

Guppy :" Build good karma la!"

Buoy : " Thats so you, you throw money to solve every problem, I dont need to give money to do good and build good karma. How much did u donate? 50 bucks? is 50 bucks alot of money to you? This year I will be a nicer person to everybody to build good karma."

Guppy : " Oooooo so u going to be nicer to me huh? coz unless u are nicer to me , u have no hope :P pfffft "

Though i think its a lost cause for Buoy he got me thinking - "what is charity? " cant i just give money? must go feed old people, bather them? or cook for the poor ? what is charity? what is being charitible ? pffffft . mmmm need to think big!

As for being nicer to everyone to build good karma? i think we have a long way to go as far a Buoy is concerned :
On the way back i was still waiting for him to invite me over to his place to meet his wife, and ofcourse check out a "pro's" fishtank. But the invitation never came .

boooooo.

Oh well, at least i managed to pass along the little money cat that was sitting in the drawer all this time :P

Guppies back at work

Its day three of the lunar new year . and Im back in the office.

All is quiet. only a few "hardworking mice" are here with me in the rat race

Many people are still off on an extended holiday ( from the lunar new year) apparently today was a good day for Dragons to start work..so there i was bright and perky sitting at my desk checking my emails .

Its a double edged sword these long breaks from work.

on one hand we all need a break from our hectic work lives, on another hand, these occasional breaks just makes it so hard for one to get back into the daily grind of work. rats.

I brought in some tiramisu i made over the holidays , the verdict - too moist too much alcohol but still yummy :D note to self - must practice harder! actually made some tiramisu for a few friends but havent gotten around to giving them all out yet.

I was actually feeling a little pissy. I wasnt able to reach buoy over the past few days properly. was it because it was the lunar new year holidays and he had to spend time with his family , that he had no time for me , or was it something else . Not to mention he nows has a new habit that is really trying my patience. he doesnt pick up my calls, chosing to call me back after i ring, or only replying my smses half a day later. I am annoyed. I told him so. He laughed and didnt address my complaints . how annoying. now I want to strangle his little neck and clobber him bad. where are my golf clubs?!

Porkchop has a new obsession, he wants to buy a condominium in Singapore. now he calls me more often long distance only to remind me he wants to buy a condominium in Singapore. Not how he misses me or any other topic. I wonder if i can pay someone to fly to melbourne to clobber him i will supply the golf clubs.

Bijoux is on a whirlwind tour of Seoul all by her lonesome. sometimes i admire her courage - and insanity , and bank balance. my my thats alot of long holidays. heh mabbe i join her some day. but alas city tours never really appeal coz they all feel too much like work.. plus im spoilt. i do like my five star hotel accomodations when i travel. hmmmm if i had to slum it ..i rather be on an island by the beach near my beloved ocean and fishies. neeways hope she is safe, cant wait to see her again. me so bored.

one highlight of today --- i have begin project FMMAM. the word is out. I love you moo. we shall FMMAM yet!

aaargh! its past 11 and i have no mood to do my work. i should just go sleep. wake up early and get in to the office by 8am to get some work done tomorrow. mmmmm wonder i will make it.

Rememberance

Lunar New Years Eve today.

Things are pretty quiet as grandma passed away last year. so we are still in mourning. no big hoo ha no celebrations. we are keeping it quite simple today .

We already finished with the reunion dinner a day earlier last night, which frees us today to go visit grandma and grandpa at the temple. ( their remains are interred in 2 different temples in the Toa Payoh area)


After paying our respects, there was nothing much to do, we ended up whiling the day away at Changi , taking in the ocean winds, watching sailboats swing by, while omnimous dark clouds hung overhead . Yarrl Chookie and I even managed to swing a dip in a totally empty olympic sized pool!

All in all it was a great way to spend a lazy sunday i must add.

I also gave my parents and siblings their redpackets today , yea its a day early but i thought since everyone was around, i should just give the redpackets out before I ermm lose it some how ?

Yep , i havent been blogging religiously. I've been quite busy at work , market is bad and we are working hard trying to come up with strategies to stay competitive while protecting everybody's job. Hmmm.

On a positive note, on the home front, things are a little quiet and unlike last year, I find myself -- physically exhausted. But ah...we should still get ourselves in the lunar new year cheery mood aye?

An early reunion dinner

Mom got so excited over lunar new year, she decided that we would have reunion Meal TODAY .

One day earlier than everybody else ! whahahah! Its tradition - mom made her famous , Ngoh hiang ( pork sausages with 5 spice powder , chicken curry with potatoes, Braised Duck and eggs, Garlic Prawns, Leek with tofu, Abalone soup there was just too much food! ofcourse this little guppy was on hand to be the chef's assistant chopping up the ingredients and cleaning up after the chef! heheheheh

I spent the evening trying to learn as much as I can, all of her cooking instructions, tips on braising an entire duck by hand :P eeeks.. i must say cooking an duck..with an entire face and a neck..is erm abit disturbing. I felt like hannibal lectre from silence of the lambs :P same goes for fish with faces.

Anyways by mealtime, I got too hungry and greedy after smelling mom's cooking before i realised it we had almost finished the dinner and so i managed to catch only remnents of food..i forgot to take pics la! damn!

Clay-mates Day Out!

Went Clay Shooting Today!

Inline with my motto to try everything at least once! This guppy rallied moomoo, anthon and tracie out for a day of Clay shooting! As we were all "virgins" we had to hire an instructor to teach us how to shoot.

We arrived at the Bukit Timah Gun Club in the morning , After a half hour of theory lecture, we were off shooting! I love the smell of gun powder !Claymates Moo, Guppy, Peter Lee (our instructor) and Anth , who spent the whole morning stressing the ear muffs had spoilt his hairdo! aaargh! cannot be more vain!
Ready ...Aim...PULL!!!!

Anth was the best of the 3 of us. ( im attributing it to his national service stint *sulk*) moo wasnt that bad . for a right hander with a lazy right eye (left eye dominant) . She was doing pretty well too!

The verdict : Gunpowder smells are shiok! Actually shooting a clay target successfully..is very exciting, and strangely therapeutic. with 25 rounds of ammunition per set, I think with 5 hits out of 25, this wasnt that bad a start! I'll definitely be back!

How Could I have forgotten the Ikan Bilis ?

Made Nasi Lemak for the first time this evening. Moo, Jas and the kids Ryan and Roy came over for din din!

Dinner time! Nasi lemak with so many dishes!

Chicken Nuggets, Spam, Beef Rendang, Chicken Wings, Sayur Lodeh (veg curry) , Otah (bought by moo) , omlette, sambal chilli etc ..But where's the ikan bilis?! how can nasi lemak have no ikan bilis?! yup as usual with all the mad cooking, i completely forgot to fry the dried ikan bilis..duh duh duh

Dessert Time! Ben and Jerry's Choc Fudge Ice Cream and Cherry Garcia Ice cream! -- With extra sweeties! We shall create the best ice cream with our special ingredients of M&MS , Strawberries, Pocky, Raisins...but only aunty guppy likes bananas ... :P

we finished off dinner with a special flower tea..pop in a ball of tealeaves and in the hot water it blossoms into a special bouquet of flowers. ... i thought the tea had a light fragrance and taste. moo couldnt taste squat. and jas claimed the stuff tasted like kangkong. :P ... yes ryan and roy this is the tentacled alien monster that bites you...
