Change is in the Air

Its amazing how time flies.

July's almost come to an end and I find myself settling down into a new routine.

Its uncanny how things have developed , how some things that I had always believed were here to stay , are now lost and gone in just 2 short months while other things that I thought were just fun frivolities have remained , are still hanging around in a comforting distance.

I am feeling thankful to the unwavering constants that have stood by me, and are still standing by me .

Anyway ive been quite busy hanging out with friends over the past few days . well..mostly eating :D

Checked out the new mall called ION with Kulcha...located at the heart of Orchard rd.

yea so many of my friends have set up shop there... Vuitton, Dior, Prada, Rolex, Cartier...sigh.. we went to check out the ION coz i was curious to see the diff boutiques there and Kulcha wanted to perve at IWCs...This place reminded me of the huge mega malls in Jakarta...lux brands. huge spaces...mmm well it was just very jakarta-y..dunno why. HAHAHA and we spotted another singa! ..but he has no facemask on :P

Then there was steamboat dinner with Moo and Kulcha at the backalley of some coffeeshop along jalan sultan.....

dinner under the moonlight..it was humid..there was no breeze..we were slouched over steaming steamboat...hahahhaha delicious madness! We had stirfried veggies, some deep fried ribs. omlette, and ..
The creme de la creme/... PROMFET STEAMBOAT !

After sweating over steamboat...we went for some ice cold sweet ice cream at Siglap.....
we were actually hunting for Gelare waffles...but it shut down ! sobss!!!!nevermind! still got delicious Haagen Daz!

I also caught up with sunshine over dinner at Dempsey 's Dome Cafe..

sunshine was fascinated by the ceiling decor...mmmm we had lobster pasta...actually the lobster looked more like crayfish! grrrr!!!sunshine camwhoring :P we also ordered wing zings, calamari.. soup..there was just too much food by the time the mains got to us we were almost full :P

Post dinner we moved to the smoking section of the cafe and continued our quick catch up over tea, ice cream cake and some smokes...

Hmmm too many going on in July.

August looks like another mad rush. tix are bought. but other than that we havent planned anything else yet. oh boy.

Such Bittersweet Pain

Its just one of those days.

The morning started just like any other...I was up and about ..sniffing the flowers...watching ooldes of fishies , and kitties going about their business. when suddenly , I was gripped with such immense pain

I could not even take another step further. each time i rested my weight on a heel..a sharp pain would hit be bad.

I couldnt believe i could still drive myself to see the chinese sinseh ...

and this is the result of the administrations. of the chinese physician / kungfu master...i think my feet...are in even more pain.

on the happie side ...

i had to sms both to complain -- coz i seriously suspected that my feet are in pain because of an old sprain i didnt take care of ( on wed we went to eat seafood din din and guppies in heels were clumsy enough to hurt herself while getting out of her parked car :S crap.) and because i didnt have them looked at, im paying the painful price now...

anyway..yes the happie side...because i had to sms them, i got to find out ...*drum roll*
BOTH WERE ON A MOVIE DATE TOGETHER LOR ! :D :D :D :D :D

Arrival of Baby Rayna Jane Obias!

More and more babies are arriving onto the scene.

And 24th July 2009 is Baby Rayna Jane Obias's birthday . Great Job Jas! Finally, got our long awaited baby girl :D !!!

Guppies discovered some very cool things today

- newborn babies have fuzzy foreheads...the texture is sorta like ...erm the skin of peaches ? ? ?

- a grown man carrying bunch of huge pink balloons...funny la!

- we love jas for asking all the candid pertinent questions.

- Jas may be super human.. i have never seen a mother who just gave birth have so much energy, can talk, can make fun of people, crack jokes. Congratulations babe!

On the way to get the pink "It's a girl" balloons at the Centrepoint mall, guess what moomoo , meh meh and I ran into ? another Singa Courtesy Mascot lion! Gosh just HOW MANY OF THESE STATUES DID THE TOURISM BOARD COMMISSION?!?!?!

I have lotsa thoughts on my mind tonight

Seeing the joy on Jas's face , the contentment when we first arrived and she had the baby beside her as she lay on the bed, I cant help but wonder...will such a moment ever occur in my life.

Cant help but feel a tad ponderous!

Its the weekend again. Im itching to go buy a pair of Birkies, and a nice new net notebook pc.

Project FMMAM has reached its First Milestone

And a new friendship blossoms. Phase 2 ? is up to karma + Buddha. :P

Okay and now on to the main report for tonite ! Yes dinner was at Jumbo Seafood Restaurant at East Coast Park , where we had...

my favourite kiap kiaps!

scallop and yam fried thingyoatmeal prawns...with the shells removed!? blasphemous..stir fried veggiesmy favourite bamboo clams and the ultimate for tonight? chilli crabs...which were a tad over cooked :P but still yum guppies love kiap kiapsAfter dinner...we adjourned to Laurents Chocolate Bar and Cafe...a place I heard so much about but never had the chance to try! Finally i got to check it out tonight

This chocolate tart is absolutely delish! - but reminded me so much of the chocolate rocher cake from Sheraton Hotel :P Then i had my first ever strawberry souffle...which reminded me so much of the steamed custard egg dishes mommy used to cook We also had the warm chocolate cake...the one with the chocolate centre that oozes creamy chocolate out...wah!! sinful ... but i think the TCC or even Bakerzinn choco cake is really better tasting

The vertdict...

Hahhahah everything tastes darn good...when you are feeling so damn happie

A subtle but distinct difference

It was quite an interesting past few days.

First i scored me a proper badminton racquet and officially became she who has a cool racquet but cant play well..muahahhaha : Arc Sabre 9 Guppy :D
An innocent *evil plot* conversation about my renewed interest in badminton led to porkchop's generous funding of a spanking new Arc Sabre 9 Yonex Badminton racquet for this little guppy! woohoo!

Guppy : " ya i made a new friend and now playing badminton with a bunch of badminton enthusiasts on a weekly basis!"

Porkchop : " thats good . hah at least you are moving. good good"

Guppy : " eh! im the only one playing with a $7 dollar racquet lor everybody got a Yonex..o woe is me misery! and yes im the lousiest player of them all there boohooo!!!" * lobbys hard*

Porkchop : " You better be playing badminton for a long time if i get you this racquet it costs a bomb , and it looks like its for pros..you are not a pro badminton player "

Guppy :" but its pink! "

Porkchop : " ok i buy for u. but this had better not be one of your short attention span interest flings"

Guppy : " YAY! We love Porkchops!"


Then I indulged in too much rich food..as usual..

Checked out the OVA cafe at Paragon
with porkchop ...just could not resist the beautiful pastries that line the cake counter :)
so many pretty colourful sweets for guppies to indulge in!

Hung out with Kulcha at Vivocity

where we got ourselves massaged, indulged in some Dim Sum at Bosses restaurant. and perved at some obscenely expensive watches before heading down to Delta sports hall for badminton.

pretty tea pot...square dimsum boxes with lotsa dimsums...looks nice right? but only tastes so so.. my fav is the deep fried prawn dumplings wrapped in chee cheong fun..the third dish on the bottom right hand side corner of this pic pic of not so fantastic fried fish skins...wierd..but so so only. The most dissapointing dish..our beef porridge ..bland..and loaded with wierd veggeis and mushrooms...just abit wrong :P

After badminton...

we headed down to Crystal Jade at Great World City for Dinner :D

where i had another one of those embarassing moment episodes...you know, the one where I go to a nice restaurant with a nice friend..sat down too hard on a loooong cushioned seat... and promptly caused a tiny woman on the other end of the seat to almost get bounced off her seat with the sheer force of my cute behind landing on the cushion of the chair .. ooof!

especially when said friend cannot stop laughing @#$@##%&

anyway lucky for this guppy the food was yummy ..Kulcha had to stop laughing to eat. so nyeah.

My favourite - 3 egg spinach :D yum yum yum Pork Ribs.. Steamed Cod Fish..

hmmm more than enough for me infact toooo much food for one little guppy in one sitting.

Finally, this evening.

I had great plans to take him out to dinner to celebrate his birthday. we could go pick out a gift for him , we could spend some time together..even if it was just sitting around doing nothing it wouldve been nice. but he decided he was too busy to show. Brilliant.

Turns out Kulcha also had nothing to do this evening. so he became my replacement dinner kaki. Im just glad i didnt get a cake ...and i didnt have to eat alone :)

We ended up at some peranakan place at the Esplanade ..heh yes i only know how to go to a few places..because im really bad with directions...any hoooo....we had ourselves some Peranakan food. but i think my pics didnt turn out too nice ...

My favourite Ayam Buah Keluah...moomoo when will u make this dish for me ...when when when?

the ngor hiang was fantastic..i love the chunky chestnuts..

fried kangkong was too wet...and oily * eesh im sounding like a food critic ...oh my gawd is my blog turning into a food blog?! *horror*

Our favourite of the lot -- handmade tofu fried with dried scallop. yum!

the final dish...sambal prawns...which technically only serves 4pcs.. i lobbied for 6 pcs...they served us 5...but because it was too spicy..errrr i couldnt take it...and we were just horrid...we left the extra lone prawn there in the plate..un touched.

bad bad bad wasteful people.

After dinner... we went for a quick walk at the river area...somebody needed to get his ciggie fix..while i just wanted to take pretty pics hahahaha

Guess what i found?!

Singa lion with the facemask...YES ANOTHER ONE!!! i wonder how many of these there are around the island ! its hilarious!

Too bad this shot was blurry...if not it would be so pretty...i love the colours...

Such a pretty place...pretty lights, pretty waters... so many couples around..

Its your birthday..what are you doing now? i guess you are not alone...Here I am with someone yet I am also alone. what a waste of a pretty place.

But it was great to have a dinner kaki and a friend tonite.

There is a subtle but distinct difference. But I certainly found that quiet confidence is surprisingly delightful and enjoyable indeed.
