CNY BBQ @ MOOMOO's

It was a blistering HOT sunday afternoon...my goodness

It was also the last day of the 15 day lunar new year celebration.

And it was this atrocious sweltering burning hot afternoon that Moo picked to host her CNY BBQ poolside party heheheheheh.

I had planned to arrive..fashionably late - so i could just sit my chubby arse down to some serious BBQ chicken wings..the invite said 11am firing up barbie...so i plotted to arrive at 12pm. alas when i got there, I found out i was THE FIRST TO ARRIVE! ? aargh! plan foiled!

Hostess with the mostest Mooo ...spent the entire afternoon just cooking and cooking, she didnt eat much, neither did she swim zzzzzzzz....busy busy busy..hahhaha ! we didnt have to wait long, pretty soon, the others started to arrive, tracie, anthon, jas ruben and the kids , Moo's workmates and their families started to arrive ...many chipped in to help cook the foods!Guppies love chicken wings and prawnsThere was so much food, fried beehoon, samosas, springrolls, satay , chicken wings, grilled corn, garlic bread, asparagus with beef, steaks, cookies, fruits, and free flow of booze, softdrinks, ICE...LOTSA ICE! Staffy came to the party too...hehehe

There was not much time to lose, it was too hot not to hit the pool...
Colin , Tracie and Anthon tried their darnest to get a tan..but alas...all were steam chicken white, sigh...There were moments of Turtle Love expression...Moments of cute Reyna expressions...so adorable...

and moments of Roy and Ryan and Staffy playing in the pool...
Then there was the ultimate moment where i failed to push moomoo into the water...rats!
Yes indeedy everyone had lotsa fun . Staffy got so exhausted from playing with Ryan and Roy that he had to climb up someplace quiet to rest.
sometime around 3ish pm in the afternoon, the sun was still so hot that the wooden floor boards surrounding the pool area could potentially fry an egg, Moo declares it was time to toss the YUSHENG!
Everyone crowded around the poolside table as moo and anthon pours all the necessary ingredients into our colourfull raw fish salad!
Toss Toss Toss! hahahah we made a big mess, tossing the salad, lotsa red packets were given out to the kiddies ...and then we resumed the eating, drinking and pool frolicking all over again.

Yes indeedy. the BBQ party was great fun...I think this pic of Roy running off with a deflated ....mauled and mangled ..inflatable pool turtle sums up our afternoon of wanton pool frolicking.
Exhaustingly Fun! Next year moomoo, can we do something indoors?!? :D with climate control ? less sun burns ?
I think i burnt my eyelids and bald patch above my head...hmmmm

A fragrance I Can't Describe

Finally got my fins on a bottle of Guizhou Moutai Liquor!

Boy was i one excited little guppy :D .

You see, I love my booze. but Im more of a fan of wine than the hard stuff. But theres been so much hooha... that Maotai is like the "national treasure " of China. The drink that was made famous when Nixon made a trip to China in 1972 and Zhou Enlai served it to his surprised but delighted guests. THE drink that is served up at state banquets in China.

Other articles also say that in 1974, Henry Kissinger once told Deng Xiaoping, "I think if we drink enough Maotai we can solve anything "

When doing business in Beijing, someone once told me - want to do business with Chinese bosses? Drinking one bottle of Maotai = closing one US 1 million dollar deal. hmmm dunno how true...

Wahahahah so much hype yes? for a distilled liquore made from Sorghum wheat and some "so-called " excellent natural spring waters high in the mountains of Guizhou..

Yeap MUST TRY!

Ok...out comes the bottle...from the packaging..yeap that famous red tab, red ribbons...kitty thinks Im mad...so she is not watching my madness...

seal of authenticity ...

53% alcohol?!??!?!?!? *gulp* i can feel my lips tremble in anticipation hahhhaha

Ooooo bottled in 2008 ...

I undid the ribbons, the plastic seals, unscrewed the cap...and took a whiff.
OMG!!! at first..i thought..TURPENTINE ahahhahahah but later...as i took in another sniff...oooh got aroma ! heh not unlike Macallum...but lighter! dunno how to describe..macallum smells...sweeter?! but stronger...Maotai smells less sweet but more delicate.
I filled out a shotglass and took my first sip. room temperature. neat.
Ohhhh how it burns!!!!!! but so smoothly it burns hahahahah! yes small sips...
The taste ? my happie gupsters its so hard to describe.... this may sound odd but its like unsweetend dark valhorna chocolate "spice"-like? ...and when the drink goes down ... the aftertaste.....is sooo nice... Refreshing..hahahah but i cant help but think my insides have just been cleaned by a strong antiseptic HAHAHAH
I am undecided if i like it...but now after many sips, the shotglass is empty. its been a few mins... the fragrance, the aftertaste is still in my mouth. on my tongue. resting.
I miss the taste . I think, i will take another teensy tiny taste...

Liondance Blessings @ Mount Fuji

Busy Busy week for everyone...

Im busy too...but yet i feel...like a spectator. watching all the activities from the outside...looking in. so many things happened this week...

We had a pair of lions come bless the office today..it was cute. dancing to the beat of the drums, the pair of lions pranced about the office going from cubie to cubie...to give their blessings.

All you have to do is place a red packet ( filled with moolah) and a pair of mandarin oranges on your cubie wall, to bait the cute little lion bring succes, good luck and wealth to you at work hee hee!

cute fluffy lion made it to my little cubicle...

he took my redpacket gift and left me with...erm a mandarin orange display?!
The year before we had a whole dragon dance troupe..yeah you heard me a whole dragon. This year we only have 2 lions. I do hope we get a pay increment soon

Sigh. Im tired. why do i not feel festive no more? so many things happened this week.

Heard a piece of bad news. unable to help. I wish you the strength to return the favour a hundred times over, find your peace and move on. Life's too short to be wasted on losers.

A moment of weakness made me check in on the past. I wish i hadnt taken that peep. sigh but i did and now I am paying the price as memories of happier days fill my thoughts yet again.

Bought a few lottery tickets...the lunar new year lottery was 10 million dollars! damn it. Alas. I didnt win :P hehehe how my life wouldve changed with just 1 million , let alone 10 ahhahaha

Thankfully theres work to take that edge off my self induced melancholia.

Lasagne and Yusheng Night

It was the 6th day of the Lunar New Year

Tracie, Moo, Abi, Ray and Anthon came over to the guppy cave for dinner. As it was a busy work week, heh i made stuff that could be prepared the night before , flashed cooked, or simply eaten raw heheheh.

I made Leafy lettuce, avocado, walnut and raisin salad ( all raw, just assemble kekeke)
Beef Lasagne ( assembled and baked the night before , then browned in the oven 1 hr before dinnertime)
Garlic prawns ( 5 mins in the fry pan with chopped fresh garlic and spices)
Mussels in broth ...(10 mins preparation time)
Tracie bought extra food - sushi! on top of the Yusheng :D Moo brought baguette which we pinched off to soak in the mussel broth,..super yum! Yeah dinner was not too bad if i do say so myself hee hee
Ok anthon ( had to teach) and Raymond ( still in bed?! grrr) were late...so the first bunch did a camwhore before the other guys arrived... Tracie, Raymond, Anthon and Moomoo meet Abi !
finally Raymond dragged himself out of bed and made it to dinner...When anthon finally finished with teaching and got to the guppy cave, we could do our Lo Hei! HUAT ARH!!!!!!!!
Ishimura salmon sashimi yusheng is yummy too!
We were all so full from dinner, so there was a lot of yusheng left...which ANTHON SINGLE HANDEDLY polished all off! whoah!!! the man really loves his Yusheng!
And then we were on to serious business...gambling! muahahaha , first few rounds saw this guppy win alot, and poor tracie lose every single hand muahahhaa
we then made moomoo the banker.. Anthon and me placed our lucky mascots- asses facing the banker! for ultimate "good luck" hahaha so we can bankrupt the banker! hahaha
no need to look at the cards lah...the ultimate winner of the night eventually was....
ONE HAPPIE GUPPY!!! MUAHAHAHAHHA yesh it was a good night for me baby! yeah !!!!
the evening then saw Moomoo, ray and abi., working off the PCs, with one particularly obsessed cow feeding her facebook fishville fishies..even assigning Ray fishville feeding duty..since he doesnt gamble...good grief!

Finally when moo could pull herself away from the PC she fed the real deal fishies in my fishtank just like Roy and Ryan did when they came over last time ...hahahahah
It was a great meal ..I like cooking for folks that feed me...
ok whose house will it be next?! i need to be fed
