To have and to hold..till death do us part

It's Nessa and Melvin's Wedding today !

Both fluffy and I were invited to witness the happy couple's special day at St John's-St Margaret's Church along Dover road . It was such a sweet , simple yet beautiful affair. I'll let the pictures do the talking

Guppy's favourite white oriental lily flora arrangements dotted strategic areas around the church
We got cookies - dark cookie and brown cookies as door gifts :)many well wishers signed off on the guest "book"
Church weddings are solemn affairs..Nessa and Melvin listening attentively to the pastor...
"To have and to hold, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love, cherish, honor, till death do us part, according to God's holy law, this is my solemn vow."

Guppy's First Parking Ticket

*Sigh*

It was a generally uneventful lazy sunday today, i stayed at home most of today busying myself with the week's laundry and some house tidying.. only leaving to grab munchies and pay my road tax, income tax, and multiple bills .

I shouldve continued to stay at home but i got really really bored so decided to go to my parents place to see if i could bring the family out for some dinner, alas mom and dad were already out ( yes they have a more exciting social life than me) so i brought Bijoux and Yarryl out to grab some dinner at a nearby cafe instead.

Thinking we could avoid the insane crowds on the main Thomson road, ( and because im sucky at parrallel parking under pressure) I decided to park (illegally - hey its private housing, and a sunday evening it was late! why are all these cisco parking inspectors plying the private housing estates?!?! nothing better to do ah! ) along the side of the kerb on a lonely little road behind the family house, which coincidentally was right behind the shophouse where the target cafe was situated!

An hour and lotsa yummy munchies later...I came back to find that Ashton had been VIOLATED! someone had placed a parking ticket on his shiny windscreen!

I guess i spoke too soon...something did happen today . i got a ticket for illegal parking :P

heart dropped when i came back to see a white paper on the windscreen

Offence quoted on the computer generated ticket : PARKING OPPOSITE UNBROKEN DOUBLE WHITE LINES UNDER RULE 22(A) RTR

duh duh whatever that means...dammit ! its a PRIVATE housing estate..NOBODY comes here unless THEY LIVE HERE aaaaa!!!

Guppy's first parking ticket ...*Sigh* boy Im gonna be so broke this month! What an expensive dinner this turned out to be :P

Little Guppy Wants to Play!

Phew! made it through half of 2008 ...unscathed?

Hi dee ho happie gupsters! Man how time flies.. in just a few more day's time we wouldve made it through at least half of 2008 :P !

Work is getting crazy , in fact this past week has been one of craziest of the lot.. I really hope there will be no more nasty surprises. but bah..work is work right? its not supposed to be fun ...

so how do we counter an insane work life? We work hard ..and we should play hard too!

I've been revisiting alot of my old hobbies this past few weeks as well...

Guppies At Play!

Golf :

Threatened to purchase an entire hello kitty golf set ..which made daddy pass me his set of old Wilson clubs...in disgust . So cute! dad was so into golf in the past he had the whole set ..and more! the golfbag that housed all his pro clubs are also in tatters...i will be quite the sight at the driving range ha ha ha aha

Ray , me, Moomoo and Mags on the green last year ...we look "pro" aye! HAHAHAHAH man...gotta get back into the swing of the game..somehow

Archery :

I spent a sweltering hot sunday morning on the Hougang Archery Range at the club last Sunday morning... after almost a year of hanging up my bow...it was exhilarating to feel the bowstring on my fingers once again ....ofcourse it was also depressing that I lost my archery license ( membership) coz i didnt indulge for over a year in the sport , now i have to start over again and last sunday, .. i realise I now suck at this game due to lack of practice. boooooooo

Scuba :

Itch Itch Itching to go diving again but so darn lazy to travel to the malaysian dive sites.. and too darn busy to take leave to go further... .theres gotta be a better way... until then ..the itch continues...

*scratch scratch* i scratch my itch with my marine fishie babies...I miss you my beloved Ocean...

What are you waiting for? Come join me! Lets go play !!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

Eating Cooked Eggs That Had Been Left Overnight Will Give You Big Boobies!

Mad Cow Run Part Deux!

Yes! its Mad Cow Run time again.... and this lazy guppy has run out of ideas on how to "Escape" from this insane running pact ...

Mag had another appointment so she couldnt join us on the mad cow run tonite , Yummy had given up totally , and instead we had two new additions : babuu and babooo ...the happie couple who did some "Lazy Lamb Blading" instead ...

We didnt do too badly today, we actually went alittle further than we did the last week, this guppy brisk walked as usual but we managed to cover a greater distance . Im quite pleased with myself. Ofcourse Moomoo Ray babuu and babooo went even further.

Ok lets skip the boring briskwalking/ running activities .. On to the star attraction main activity of this evening the REAL reason why we do the Mad Cow Run once a week : the MAD COW RUN FEAST ! hahahahah yes it was yet again another feast at the house of moomoo..

Auntie Irene prepared some home cooked Hokkien Fried Prawn Mee...DELICIOUS AUTHENTIC STUFF! Dont play play ..full of delicious peeled prawns, eggs, pork, octopus , squid..drizzled with some freshly squeezed lime and a lil bit of sambal chilli.....blisssssss!
babuu and babooo feasting on tonights star attraction!
Ray and Moo assessing the best angles to "attack" the Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee... and no that aint an aquairium behind them...just a window to the kitchen

We polished off an entire giant plate of Noodles ...but there was still ANOTHER ENTIRE POT OF NOODLES LEFT! Hoooray...more for this guppy to take home!

I was asking auntie irene how long can i keep the noodles once Ive brought them home, can i still re-heat the noodles and eat them after two days? ...auntie irene answered "no", ..then out of the blue moomoo uttered - "Eating Cooked Eggs That Had Been Left Overnight Will Give You Big Boobies!"

Oh my gawd...if that were true, do you know how many singaporean girls will rush out to cook some eggs and start eating overnight eggs to try to boost their cup size? Insane! hahhahaha Between Noodles, fresh cut fruits , great gossip. insane boob bursting theories and the fun company..I had a real good time tonite ...cant wait to do it again next week...

Auntie Irene also made some delicious strawberry cheesecake...that is absolutely to die for...I was told to bring it home and only eat it tomorrow...but alas .... this guppy can resist everything except - temptation...

How can you stare at sweetness in the face and not eat it? :P

Absolute Turnip Sits In Front of the Telly

And the absolute turnip has absolutely no idea what to do with herself tonight.

I kind of ended my day feeling a tad bit blue.... not in the mood to socialise or date anyone out for dinner... maybe its just PMS but somehow I feel abit melancholic today.
well it all started with Yummy innocently asking about Sentosa's underwaterworld... whether the dolphin Lagoon was worth the trip etc.. It brought back memories of me petting a certain pink dolphin..made me just a lil sad when i recall those silly days.

In the end I did nothin except feast on junk food and indulge my melancholy by flippin through files and files of pics from the past .... which ofcourse worsened my melancholia and made me eat even more junk :P

The amazing Entree...prawn kerpok chippies that Buoy brought back from batam :P Buoy if you are reading this I want the VCDs from Batam...not chippies! beat beat beat! but ok the chippies are nice too...*munches on chippies with lazy half shut eyes*

Behold! my Maincourse of one absolutely delicious greasy ROAST DUCK DRUMSTICK!

And my most sinful extravagant sweettooth satisfying Dessert - Ice Durian Chendol! complete with red beans and atap seed ... YUM!

Sigh i gotta get out of this melancholic mood... maybe the Mad Cow Run with Moomoo will help me work out my angst and I can snap out of this silliness and FOCUS FOCUS FOCUS

Guppy loves Buddha ...

and Buddha Loves Guppy too!

It's Vesak Day today

And for those not in the know, On Vesak Day, Buddhists all over the world commemorate events of significance to Buddhists of all traditions: The birth, enlightenment and the passing away of Gautama Buddha. -- a.k.a Buddha's Birthday :D

Mind you this guppy is not really one of the devout and religious type, I've always subscribed to the power of kindness and love, championed the belief of Karma but never really really put the buddhism label to it... but ever since way back in early 07 when I made a trip to the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok , made a sincere prayer to the "Four Face Buddha" there. many things have changed for the better in my life..so much so that its hard not to believe that such a love exists. :D

Anyway I digress....back to today's Vesak Day Adventures!

Went to pick up mom and dad from the harborfront cruise centre in the morning , they just got back today from attending Grandma's party on Batam island which from what i heard was an over 50 headcount mega affair !

Afterwhich we went to the " Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple " otherwise known as the Temple of a thousand lights . The weather was hot, the crowds were insane..but everything was orderly and the crowds weaved through the temple smoothly.

Sakya Muni Buddha Gaya Temple - just an ordinary looking temple along racecourse road near little india in Singapore

We moved to the foot of the giant 15 metre high stature of a seated Buddha and recieved blessings of holy water from 2 buddhist monks , dad made some monetary donations to the temple and we were "annointed" by gold flakes being plastered onto our foreheads and palms .

I love the smell of incense...and the buddhist monks chanting of the scriptures... very very soothing..despite the crowds, everything had a peaceful aura to it.

Ofcourse , this visit would not be complete ( or fun!?) without some divination on the Wheel of Fortune!
Guppy spun divination/ prediction lot No. 4 - Which reads (including the some really bad grammar and english ) :

" The Wheel of Fortune says honesty leads to succeed. Your star is in the ascendant and prosperity is predicted. Your Business , your love affair will succeed. Only wait with patience. Your fate is comparable to the time Lord Buddha was reincarnated as Pra Mahososth, who was surrounded by wealth and fame, Vietheha , the King, favoured him, but he had trouble because of his enemy in the disguise of a friend. So be careful of the same in your case. "

cryptic aye? heheheh but all in all the above spells a rather positive lucky divination and Im quite pleased with myself :D

golf flecks in my palm from touching the buddha statue...

Everyone else managed to draw auspcious predictions too... eheh after completing our prayers. the whole family went off to grab some delicious vegetarian lunch..yum yum

Ok true believers ..Im sleepy and feeling good...thats all for today's adventures..will share more next time :D
