A Fishy Fun Filled Day

To learn more from experienced fellow marine tank enthusiasts, I had been haunting the sgreefclub forum for the past few weeks. ( naturally most of these guys are hard core marine aquarium enthusiasts, with plenty of experience and advice to share)

One forumer WilsontanTW was generous enough to offer to give me his hogfish for FREE! woohoo! so , off this greedy lil guppy went to collect her new friend! Yummy , coincidentally was also free this happy saturday , so I invited her along for this exciting fish collection adventure!

My Improvised fish carrier - my old stainless steel tiffin tin with a little lid

This is the cute hogfish from WilsontanTW its actualy smaller than I thought! but sooo adorable! I've named him Wilson *hee hee*

Yummy mobile - a.k.a FISH TRANSPORTER

we zipped from the east to the north fairly quickly hee hee Yummy : '" The fish is not going to jump out of the tiffin tin is it? huh ? eeew! " Guppy :"no la, got lid la..I hold it tightly la. just drive yummy, NO HORLAN hahahaha"

When i got home i wasted no time in introducing Wilson to the rest of the gang! He proved to be highly popular, didnt display any agresive behaviour, infact he got along so well with everybody..maybe coz everybody is BIGGER than Wilson , at least twice his size!

Which actually worries me...Wilson is the same size as dottyback ( my poor dottyback that got eaten by the lion) Lionfish stares at Wilson fish from a corner under the coral...*fingers crossed* hopefully lionfish has no interest in eating hogfishes...only dottybacks *gulp*
stay tuned true believers! Thank you WilsontanTW!

After we dropped off Wilson fish into the tank , Yummy and I then zipped off to Bugis for some serious lunch at TCC .... And Joy! Buoy was in town running some errands today so he joined in on our raunchy lunchy this afternoon as well ...

Yup TCC serves up some of the best makan , its one of my favourite restaurants, My favourite dish there , the "Kahlua Salmon" and "Dark Devotion"

After our delicious raunchy lunch, Buoy went home while Yummy and I proceeded to go do what ladies do best after they lunch -we went off to exercise our credit cards, shopping at Bugis Street! hee hee

It's Playtime!

Went to watch a play last night

Bumped into Tracie as we were having our dinner at the nearby cafe , Tracie happened to be catching this play with her students on the same day too, what a coincidence ( it's Tracie's 2nd time watching it) It was fun catching up with Tracie as all 3 of us nibbled and indulged in idle chitchat while we waited for the play to start.

He wasnt too impressed by the play but I was absolutely thrilled *trembling with delight* It was raw, it was fun , the "Fake" pommy accents were brilliant , and the little "stories" within the "story" were suitably dark , well dark and smart enough to tickle me at all the right places :)

There’s“The Little Apple Men’’ about a girl swallowing razor blades stuffed in apples; “The Tale of the Three Gibbet Crossroads,’’ about morals ;gory creepy “The Little Jesus’’; “The Writer and His Brother’’ is Katurian Katurian’s story about how both were brought up by sadistic sicko parents , physically torturing one child for 7 years while bringing one the other with love as an experiment , "The Pillowman" the most thought provoking story for me but the most memorable one and my favourite - “The Little Green Pig’’ gives the play some much-needed happie joyness after washing it full of blood and black humour

I enjoyed the play, although i think towards the end, after the intermission, it got abit labourious, and the only point where i concur with my theater kaki- the playwright probably had alot of post production thoughts and extended his work...certain areas could've been less draggy and tighter.

It was a 3 hour long affair. oh my we didnt plan for it to end so late, by the time we got out of the theatre it was already 11 time to rush home - tomorrow was afterall still a work day.

Last night before i slept i found myself wondering.. should i be in misery, should I hit rock bottom one sorry day in my life... as i totter on the edge of suicide or survival. would i choose to listen to the pillowman and end my life while i am still a young kid - so I will never have to suffer through it? or would i choose to carry on live it for every moment of happiness, joy , pain , sorrow or anguish? Blyeah too heavy... I didnt dwell on this thought for too long, and soon turned my attention to the happier simpler story of -- "The Little Green Pig"

My shameless freebie lobbying actually garnered your sponsorship of a fishie feeding station :P ?

Its been 5 days since i brought fishies home ...they have finally begun feeding :) .. i am so happy.

Hmmm it really is the little things in life that sometimes warms your heart the most.

Marine Tank Madness Continues

Bye bye Nemo.
Nemo No. 2 died this morning - Yes , he fought on bravely but still lost to the dreaded clownfish disease. :(

Marine Tank Madness Continues
To jump straight into my marine tank madness and skip my long babble about other non-fish related stuff - go here
His death brought a little damper to today's plans to go buy more fish and live rocks with Buoy to start populating my marine tank and complete the project.

It was a sweltering HOT day, but we had many places to get to . We had to go all the way to Clementi in the west to get my wonky skimmer fixed, then, a long joyride to Pasir Ris where all the fish and pet farms were to check out the range of fish stock on sale!

First , a quick stop to the nearby petrol station to get his wheels washed. Now dont laugh at me, I dont own a car, so I didnt know that A) it costs only 3 bucks to get your car shampooed, rinsed and dried off by a group of foreign workers B) foreign workers are hardcore hardsell experts (with skills comparable to those from beauty salons that try to sell you packages!)

In no time, the car was washed, and we escaped the hardselling car washers... alas even with the car newly washed, the journey was still a long and hot one -- Guppies distract themselves by camwhoring in the sweltering heat as we zipped along the highway

At Clementi, with the Skimmer fixed and I bought an UltraViolet Lamp and another water pump , it was mutually agreed that before we head off on our long journey from the west to the east , we should FEED THE HUNGRY GUPPY AND BUOY - yes, in Buoy's dogged determination to not deviate from our marine tank mission, we had to go fix the skimmer FIRST before we could engage in some aggressive feeding :P

We ended up in Holland Village where we managed to find a little cafe that served up some pretty normal makan

Baked Chicken Mayonnaise Potato

Calamari which the greedy and crazy hungry guppy ordered

I had the King Kong Burger - Two stacks of prime beef patties cheese bacon.. While Buoy had Country style pork chops ( which i didnt take pics of as I was too busy eating hahahaha)

After scoffing down our yummy brunch, It was straight to the Pasir Ris farms, we went to Iwana, Pacific and many many more , where we bought live rocks - 13 kilos, ( which Buoy couldnt stop complaining that it wasn't enough to fill up the 4feet tank)

Check out Buoy's Zen live rock arrangement!

Buoy set up the UV Lights, tubing OK he set up everything, I was more like the assistant ha ha ha watching and learning

We set out to buy Lipstick Nano Tang, Blue Tang, Yellow Tang, Royal Gamma, but due to the lack of stocks in the shops at Pasir Ris we ended up buying these 6 fishies instead

Meet my new friends

3 spotted hogfish

Peacock Lionfish

Powder Brown Sturgeon

Maroom Clownfish and Blue Tang

And the 6th fish i just couldnt take his pic in time, the moment Buoy put in the live rocks he swam straight into the crevice of one and hid there till now. Damn !

Now that its late at night when i sit on my usual spot on the floor in the living room typing on my notebook, I can listen to the soothing whrrr of the tank while i look at my fishies swim about.. except DAMN! they are all hiding within the live rocks! ha ha ha ha

Can you spot the 6 of them hiding behind or within the crevices?

Yes! I can look at them for hours. I swear its really therapeutic watching them swim around earlier, I hope they come out again tomorrow morning...and hope nobody dies on me this time, stay tuned true believers.

Thank you Buoy!

Manicures, Movies and Magaritas

Yes, its been awhile . But I spent a glorious afternoon swooning and getting lost in a pair of big brown eyes today :)

i woke up really early this morning, and as I was about to leave my flat , i realised my favourite pair of crocs were missing! Damn! its gotta be the 3rd time my bloody crocs got stolen, When will i learn not to leave em outside the door again? Damn you stupid crocs theif! may u slip and fall hard everytime you wear my crocs!

By 11am, I got to the manicurists' to get my mani and pedi. Ok i guess the excitement of it all made me go a little nutty and i went a little overboard with the nail art and crystals but what the hell. As i sat in the chair and watched my manicurist work on scrubbing my feet and cuticles...It dawned on me that its been THAT long since I went and did my last manicure and pedicure. Sigh.

Presenting manicured masterpieces! see the cute lil crystals and glitter on my hands?

Bolder colour - Turqouise, my next most favourite colour after purple...

For all my efforts... When i asked him if he liked my pretty manicure and pedicure he replied - "Errr its nice guppy, but its a little girl thing... "

pfffffft :P ...

Anyway, we had a quick Long John Silvers fish n chips snack before rushing in for the 2:30pm session of the Spiderwick Chronicles, it was pretty ho hum, not too great a movie not too lousy either...or mabbe I just wasnt concentrating on the movie ..hee hee

After the movie, realising that i was still upset over the loss of my favourite crocs, he accompanied me to Marina Square crocs boutique to pick out another pair! * joy* With a new pair of pink and grey crocs in my possession once again, we decided to celebrate with more nibbling ...of food la!

We ended up at the Changing Appetites restaurant (ya not romantic, but we'd both never been to CA and the menu was so colourful we had to try it out ), Once we got in, we wasted no time in indulging in Sizzling Chicken Fajitas, cheesey mango chicken nacho bake and YUMMYLICIOUS LYCHEE MAGARITAS! ...

I realised one extra special thing today - giggles..we BOTH love licking the salt off the edge of the glass of lychee magaritas more than the contents of the glass HAHAHAHAHAHA

Somehow by the end of the evening, I really cant help but feeel Could bliss really be as simple as = man + magarita + rich cheesey mexican delicacies?? HAHAHAHAHAHA

Heartbroken and sad.

Damn you stupid clownfish disease.

Yes I am upset. sad. I spent the whole of last night deliberating whether to euthanise one of the perculas I bought for my new marine tank...

It had just been 2 days since i bought my two adorable new friends and put them into my new marine tank : www.marinetankmasak.blogspot.com
Then i spotted it, the death sentence sharp white spots.
Buoy came by to take a look at them and last night declared that they got the dreaded clownfish disease - which technically had no cure . all information online pointed to a horrible death in a few days time.

Well I couldnt bring myself to do the deed. I couldnt bring myself to put one to death, but this morning when i woke up to check on them, the one with the more serious infliction was already dead at the bottom of the tank. He must have swum into a dark corner of the tank alone in the middle of the night and died .

I was heartbroken. I couldnt bear to fish out his dead little body, Porkchop saw me crying and went about fishing his little body out of the tank and got rid of it.

Bye Bye my new friend..it had only been two days...but at least you no longer have to suffer from the disease.

Percula two is still swimming around, I think i see a white spot on his dorsal fin.
I dont know how long more he has .... :(

Opening Dive for 2008

Yes! Despite the choppy conditions at some dive sites, the not so spiffy service by the dive centre this time round , and ofcourse Pulau Aur's spartan el cheapo conditions... I had my girlfriends cum long time scuba buddies with me...It cannot be anything BUT a most satisfying opening dive trip for 2008

Here are some pics of this lazy trip where i skipped a few dives in favour of relaxing brainlessly on land

Sunshine blogged about our trip in greater detail and Im too lazy to write more...so please visit her site to read more about our adventures !

Whhrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I sit here in my living room typing this as i indulge in a little audio massage -- "Whrrrrrrrrrr" is now a gentle comforting background sound that is a permanent feature of my home. Strangely soothing, strangely addictive.

The pumps have been running since Monday.... - I CANT WAIT FOR THE FISHIES AND THE ROCKS TO BE IN - I took pics of the set up process , but will post them all up at one shot when the tank is finally complete. Lets set ourselves a little target here and get this tank fully set up by the end of March!? come on !

Its really very amusing, my quest to get my very own marine fish tank is almost complete! The tank is up, pipings set up, salt, chemicals, bacteria everything added into the water the pumps are running and the water has been cycling in that tank since Monday.

I am contemplative today...lotsa thoughts in my head.

Is it really possible for the virtual to become the real?

Is there such a thing as too real ? Does familiarity breed contempt? Virtual = be whoever whatever u want to be , Real = who you really are? Can stuff, comments, words, expectations, imaginations, fun! from the virtual world thrive when placed in the spotlights of reality? or will it enjoy a silent quiet but expected death? Will more revelations about me kill the fun me in your eyes or will more revelations of you kill the fun you in my eyes?

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction ?

History has also shown that everything is a big exchange. from information to knowledge to lotsa other stuff. in every relationship / friendship/ interaction there is a give...and a take. You tell me a secret, I'll tell you one of mine too. The more information and secrets I have in my pocket, the more power I have in the relationship and vice versa. Have we upset the delicate balance of power over the past few weeks? *heaves a sigh of resigned fear*

Gluttony! thy name is Guppy!!!!

Its proven , I can resist anything but temptation *blyeah* Project balloon was a success . Yes if you still dont know what it is go google Bariatric Balloon Surgery. After days of agonising puking existance, I've dropped from 105 at the start of the surgery to 101 kilo today although much of it im attributing to severe dehydration. Unfortunately for me, this is a lifelong battle that I have to walk alone and continue to do so.. on my own. Gambate Guppy !

My beloved ocean i miss you!

Its the open season for Scuba Diving in Malaysia waters, Dot, Sunshine and Me are going to do our season opening dives at the Spartan Pulau Aur this saturday..will the balloon have settled down before that? Its been so long since the three of us scuba dived together.. Will we still have the same chemistry as we did so many years ago in Tioman? I miss your wacky company babes, fingers crossed for a safe sunny beautiful weekend in Pulau Aur ...*fingers crossed for whalesharks sightings*

I hate long-haul flights

I recieved instructions to head out to our UK office for a two day meeting. I dont know what is worse, the fact that it will be a long haul flight or the fact that it rides smack in the middle of our busiest period at work . Anyways stay tuned for "Guppies Gone Wild in London" a special episode of this blog installment this June! Will this guppy survive the Jetlag with enough energy to teach the Londoners a thing or two about "RESPECT MY PIECE OF THE PIE" or will the Londoners teach her a thing or two about humility and arrest my ever swelling ego? HAHAHAHAHA stay tuned!

Phew! Im sleepy. And no you dont have to understand my ramblings. Sometimes I dont understand my own ramblings either when I come back and read it later HAHAHAHHAH
till my next blog my happie gupsters where i hope to show you my newly completed beautiful marine tank !

And before i forget, thank u guys for generously indulging my marine tank madness, whether u sponsored me stuff , your knowledge or your time BIG BIG GUPPY HUGS AND KISSES!
