Crazy in Bangkok with Tracie

Sawadee Kaaa

It all started with a little sms from Tracie in the middle of the night

Tracie sms : "Guppy, ak got urgent office job . so i got an extra tix. Wan fly w me to bangkok? I juz change ur name, All paid 4 except ur own expenses. We fly this fri 6.30am. Back Sunday 4pm"

Freaky. Because I had just been telling Kulcha over lunch that I needed to go to Bangkok to go to the Irawan shrine to give thanks to Buddha for all the blessings i have recieved over the past year. I was plotting to get there for work..or pay my own way...and the next thing i know, tracie was making me this freaky offer! my goodness. Buddha really is all powerful :P

As usual, I took many happie pics of this trip...will let the pics tell the story instead hehehe enjoy :D ...

I wasted no time , applied for urgent leave from work on Friday, and this very morning, i made my way to the airport. reached Changi Budget Terminal at 445am in the wee hours of the morning, had a nice McDonalds Brekkie with Anthon Tracie , Anthon's Mom and uncle.

Awwww....poor Anthon did not get to go to BKK coz he gotta work-- Which means one happie little guppy gets to go! woohoo! look at his sad face...awww Auntie and Tracie posing for the first of the many many shots we will be camwhoring for on our little trip to Bkk...METHINKS Auntie and Tracie are naturals when it comes to posing for the guppy cam...very cool.

Tracie bid Anthon a lovey dovey farewell...then all 4 of us cleared immigration, and made an excited bee line for the duty free shopping ! hehehhe

Our shopping spend in the Duty free fragrance and cosmetics area got us two tries on this gimmicky tourism board -visa , game boooth at the departure gates..Tracie trying her hand at winning some cash! ....and won herself a mickymouse pillow instead... well actually she won two in total...
We arrived at Bangkok's Survarhnabumi International Airport after a pleasant 2.5 flight on Tiger airways..cleared customs... and booked a limousine service transport to take us to our hotel - Centre Point

on wireless road which to my horror was right next to my Company's Thai operations Office! eeeeeeks! horror...cant escape from work even on a horliday! hahahahahah - had to take a pic of the office building

As we were a little too early to check into our rooms, we sat around at the hotel's cafe and had some snacks and tea while waiting for our rooms to be ready.

Tracie wasted no time and started to plot on a map - the various shopping locations we will cover on our little trip :D -- i love travelling with Tracie. there is absolutely nothing to worry or think about.she has everything well thought out and planned. PLUS she is super duper organised! When we finally got to our room, i was pleasantly surprised. the place is clean, bright , fully equipped, smells nice and feels very very comfortable...check out the bed...it was a really big and spacious room! free internet, free cable, comes with adjoining kitchenett , microwave, fridge, cooking stove...an ensuite bathroom with bathtub and showers....which is more like an open concept bathroom, very romantic...hahahah if you were here with your lover.. you can watch your lover soak in the bathtub or shower from the comfort of your bed ...hahahahTracie and Guppy camwhoring in the pretty bathroom...oooooooo
After we freshened up, we wasted no time, and hopped onto a cab which took us to our first stop ( and the most important stop for this little guppy ) Irawan Shrine -at Grand Hyatt...to pay respects and give thanks to Lord Buddha :)
lighting joss sticks and incense offerings plus flowers ....Tracie caught a pic of me praying with some of the dancers i hired (seated behind me) After the prayer sessions, we headed down to MBK shopping mall for some major retail therapy...and ...LUNCH ofcourse...Delicious Beef ball soup, stewed beef, stewed duck soup, paad thai, with rice...CHEAP CHEAP GOOD GOOD This was also the moment where i satisfied my year long craving for THAI PANCAKES!!! Yes simply the best! Oh how i missed you so my delicious yummy pancakes... with the prayers done and pancakes in my tummy..i can safely say my Bangkok trip's twin core missions have been successfully completed hahahaha
Tracie ordered other thai specialty desserts as well -- Thai red ruby ... "fruits" made of bean paste...look too beautiful to be eaten
Tapioca with coconut...mmmmmm

We spent another few more hours shopping at MBK mall....insanely weaving in and out of shops.,doing lots of hard bargaining.... trying on many different types of shoes. tracie bought so much toiletries and..erm patterned tissues... I tried to find an IWC copy watch to match Kulcha's so moomoo and I can wear it around him to thoroughly annoy him...but failed to find one that matches the model he has...booooo,.,
after shopping we went back to our hotel room for a shower, pack away our shopping loot, and ordered ourselves a 1 hour in room full body thai massage service before heading out for dinner in the evening.
Dinner was a delicious treat by Auntie....we went to Siam Centre..and checked out steamboat at the famous Koka Steamboat restaurant.
Guppies love prawns!Yeah healthy steamboat dinner! so much food...such delicious yum yums

alas the service by the wait staff was pretty crappy... but nevertheless we still had ourselves a really filling hearty dinner!apart from steamboat, Tracie ordered chilli crab...some durian seafood deep fried snack..
We were all recharged and filled up at dinner...fully energised to carry on our shopping expedition to the Suan Lom Night Markets!
Alas when we got out of Siam Centre after dinner..it started to rain...
the traffic jam was terrible. traffic was stalled up all the way. nobody was moving.
To beat the traffic, and the rain, we decieded to try to get to the night markets via BTS (train) Tracie buying tickets for Auntie, Uncle , herself and little guppy..
Uncle and Auntie were game enough to attempt this train journey with us.
Managed to get Tracie to pose with Auntie and Uncle for a pic on the train platform We eventually got lost. got on the train at the wrong platform ( no thanks to bad advice by station staff) auntie and uncle got exhausted from trying to walk to Suan Lom ...and we eventually flagged down a cab to take us to the night market instead.
Alas , when we got to the night market ...it was raining heavily...and the whole place was flooded! Looks like we are not meant to do any shopping at any night market this rainy evening..
After all that trouble..we gave up and headed back to the hotel to catch some sleep instead..Tracie and i ordered some room service - Club sandwich and delicious fruit tarts to cheer ourselves up...before we headed for bed.

Not to worry...

there is always Chatuchak markets and another night to try to hit Suan Lom night markets...the next day....
