3 days in Bangkok With Porkchop

Back in Bangkok -- Again...

Yep you're reading it right, Im back in Bangkok again, but this time I have Porkchop with me. We were supposed to join Tracie , Anthon , Moo and Kulcha to do a groupie holiday thingy, but porkchop suggested that we should do something on our own instead.

I had such yummy food and a great time shopping the last time round, I thought hey why not, Porkchop could enjoy the food and ofcourse get some better lookin clothes for himself too.. we could visit historical sites, see the go go bars ,watch the ping pong shows. why not? Hoping to make this trip as comfy as possible for porkchop ( who incidentally is more spoilt than I am) i booked us both on a Singapore airlines flight .

Before we knew it , we had arrived in Bangkok City on the night of 4th December. Then we found out from locals it was the Thai King's birthday this weekend! yeap it was gonna be an interesting weekend indeed.

There arent that many pics for this trip on locations, coz, well you've probably seen all these places in my previous blogs hahaha In anycase...enjoy :) :

annoyed i managed to pry porkchop away from his pc, and dragged him out of the hotel room..it was time to have our breakfast and begin our adventure!Camwhoring with mascots! It was christmas season,. alll the malls were decked out in lights., and there were so many cute mascots dotting the shopping belt between phloen chit, throught to chit lom and siam square train station routes..Lunch at MBK...delicious herbal beef soup and paad Thai! Followed by coconutty desserts, icy cold red ruby and warm black bean sticky rice with coconut...One round at MBK later, i was still not inspuired to spend, so we exited the mall and made our way to Siam Paragon, Siam discovery centre...
The fish tanks at Siam Paragon food court...with beautiful huge fishies that look like a cross between a Koi and a goldfish! I love the tank set ups.. Its a wonderful feeling..having a meal beside a big aquarium or fish tank...
we then trapesd the Siam Paragon mall...which had lotsa luxury brands from Chanel, to Gucci...to the shops below.. I was going delirious with lustThis shots for you problem child...After our regular perving, of luxury lust haves...which we cant afford, hahaha we then went on to visit the star atttraction of Siam Paragon --- Siam Ocean World! too bad the place was too dark to get decent shots...but you gotta be there to enjoy the magnificence of the ocean...manta rays...sharkies...reef fish, turtles, there was just too much to take in...i was happie and excited! porkchop staring at tank of clown fish...haha he must be thinking he's damn lucky i did not decide to set up a giant tank as big as this one at home.turtles seem to love porkchop see what i mean? the turtles keep coming up to porkchop . checking him out... we then took a glass boat ride above the aquarium tank...riding across the shark enclosures...it was sooo coool
water rats were on display together with otters...yeap got furry creatures too. they arent all wet and slimey...wait a minute...nope i stand corrected THEY ARE ALL WET AND SLIMEY hahahahah! We ended off with lunch at the Thai restaurant i went to with tracie on our last visit. a month ago nagging porkchop..telling me i do not need another watch and gucci bag . booo!Grilled beef and glutinous rice!My favourite chicken stew rice!Day 1's total shopping loot...Tees, for family, porkchop, a seahorse stuffed doll..hehe it is carrying 3 baby sea horses in its pouch... lotsa inflatable bubble bags, shorts....hmmm not bad for a start to siamese shopping spree! Close up view of inflatable bubble bag...hee hee
After a short rest and nap in our room, we ventured out to Suan Lom Night Bazaar...
it was a nice atmosphere...much like an artists village, mixed with shopping paradise..and a hippie commune..music in the background, the smell of cooked food...very very nice very very relaxed place. This stewed duck noodle soup is to die for!
Thai basil chicken rice with no chilli...yeah we not chilli eaters..spotted designer hippo chair that caught my eye in a singapore mall a week ago...this same desinger hippo chair was also being sold at Suan Lom Market! whoahhh its a sign! i gotta get one! Bought some chocolate cakes, a fake LV key pouch , a cute leather key ring bunny and a hippie bracelet before we headed back to our place ...Yeap Day was most fruitful and tiring indeed. But i had done the two main things i made this trip to Bangkok to do -- pray to buddha. give thanks, and visit Siam Ocean World! yay!
Day 2:
  • Chatuchak Markets -- failed attempt left in under an hour
  • Central World Mall -- to recover from chatuchak trauma
  • Gaysorn - LV, PRADA, Burberry , Coach , need i say more?
  • Thallasso Spa - full body aroma oil massage, foot masage cheap spa. to recover from chatuchak trauma
  • Mah Boon Krong - dinner and more shopping.
We failed to conquer Chatuchak Markets ,
we set off early hoping to explore the famous Chatuchak Markets - the mother of all markets. 35 hectares of pure bulk shopping bargains...
When we got there, ( we took a cab ofcourse) within 20 mins of us being in the markets , the heat, humidity, and crowds got to us, Porkchop developed a headache, got grouchy . and I too felt too sick to continue.
Porkchop even nagged at me, and asked me, if i looked around at the market, is there anything i really wanted to buy...duh duh...we abandoned bargain hunting plans...and headed back to what we know best
airconditioned comfort shopping. at Central World Mall and Gaysorn .
Christmas decorations and lights, complete with surround sound christmas carol blasting loudly in the background Thai designer shopping! Porkchop bought me a bear bear!Recovering from Chatuchak requires a good meal, lotsa drinks. and plenty of climate controlled airconditioned, quiet classy environments....

Then we took a hike back to the centrepoint...it was nearby only...on the way we spotted a sign that said spa...
we followed it and ended up at this place called the Thalassa...right behind our centrepoint accomodations! cheap and good massage place...
Dinner plans were a naught,..so we headed back to MBK. we didnt buy anything the day before and this time round, we will shop the mall properly
took a cab to MBK and decided to eat dinner FIRST. porkchop complained that dinner was too late the night before..so he wanted an early dinner. he was sick of thai food...and wanted some nice meaty slab of beef..we found this steak joint called Santa Fe, it was located just below the food hall...cheap western steaks and meats...
and then i spotted it! something i had been covetting for some time -- Crocodile skin handbag! genuine croc!
after much bargaining. i managed to bring the price down to SGD 780 was about to make payment for it when Porkchop offered to buy it for me...heee hee
yeah he was a pain all day being the grouchketeer that he was and he wanted to buy me a bag to make up for his piggishness. apology accepted.
more shopping ensued after dinner, we bought more shirts, accessories, bags, and even 2 pieces of "flower" lamps for the house! packing the flower lamps so its aircraft handler friendly hee heeDay 2 loot! teddy bear, croc bag, stuffed cow, lotsa tees, shorts...
as we ate the steak dinner too early i felt hungry again....and ordered us some room service supper!
I tell you my happie gupsters centrepoint serves up some might yummy room service grub! thai basil chicken rice...and paad thai...looked nothing like those in th emarkets or MBK mall...too bad the prawns in paad thai were not fresh...otherwise it was a great supper...hahaha

we washed everything down with sweet donuts ofcourse..and went to bed with two full tummies

Day 3 :Checking out Lavana Spa.. taking it easy... will type more when i have time...sleepy now..hahahahaha enjoy the pix first
